What is austenitic stainless steel? What types of austenitic stainless steel are there?

Stainless steel is divided into 5 categories, namely austenite, martensite, ferrite, duplex steel and precipitation hardening type.
We all know about stainless steel in general, but do you really know what austenitic stainless steel is? What types of austenitic stainless steel are there? Master Wei from the factory production department will introduce it in detail below.
1. What is austenitic stainless steel?
Austenitic stainless steel refers to stainless steel with an austenitic structure at room temperature. When steel contains approximately 18% Cr, 8%~25% Ni, and approximately 0.1% C, it will have a stable austenite structure. Austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel includes the famous 18Cr-8Ni steel and the high Cr-Ni series steel developed by increasing the Cr and Ni content and adding Mo, Cu, Si, Nb, Ti and other elements. Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic and has high toughness and plasticity, but its strength is low. It cannot be strengthened through phase transformation and can only be strengthened through cold working. If elements such as S, Ca, Se, Te, etc. are added, it has good Easy to cut.
2. What types of austenitic stainless steel are there?
Since its introduction in Germany in 1913, austenitic stainless steel has always played the most important role in stainless steel, and its production and usage account for about 70% of the total production and usage of stainless steel. The steel grades are also the largest. There are more than 40 grades of austenitic stainless steel commonly used in China. Mainly divided into the following two series: 1. 200 series: chromium-nickel-manganese austenitic stainless steel; 2. 300 series: chromium-nickel.
Austenitic stainless steel:
(1) Model 301: good ductility, used for molded products. It can also be hardened by mechanical processing. Good weldability. Wear resistance and fatigue strength are better than 304 stainless steel, products such as: springs, steel structures, wheel covers.
(2) Model 302: The corrosion resistance is the same as that of 304, but the strength is better due to the relatively higher carbon content.
(3) Model 303: By adding a small amount of sulfur and phosphorus, it is easier to cut than 304.
(4) Model 304: Universal model; i.e. 18/8 stainless steel. Products such as: corrosion-resistant containers, tableware, furniture, railings, medical equipment, and some mobile phone frames. The standard composition is 18% chromium plus 8% nickel. It is a non-magnetic stainless steel whose metallographic structure cannot be changed by heat treatment.
(5) Model 304L: has the same characteristics as 304, but is low in carbon so it is more corrosion-resistant and easier to heat treat, but has poor mechanical properties and is suitable for products that are welded and difficult to heat treat.
(6) Model 304N: It has the same characteristics as 304. It is a nitrogen-containing stainless steel. Nitrogen is added to improve the strength of the steel.
(7) Model 309: It has better temperature resistance than 304.
(8) Model 309S: It has a large amount of chromium and nickel, so it has good heat resistance and oxidation resistance. Products such as: heat exchangers, boiler components, injection pilots
Qing.
(9) Model 310 S: Contains the largest amount of chromium and nickel, so it has the best heat resistance and oxidation resistance for heat exchangers, boiler components, and electrical equipment.
(10) Model 316: After 304, it is the second most widely used steel type. It is mainly used in the food industry and surgical equipment. The addition of molybdenum element gives it a special corrosion-resistant structure. Because it has better resistance to chloride corrosion than 304, it is also used as "marine steel". SS316 is usually used in nuclear fuel recovery devices. Grade 18/10 stainless steel is also generally qualified for this application grade. Especially used in chemical, seaside and other corrosive environments, ship assembly, and building materials.
(11) Model 316L: Low carbon, so it is more corrosion-resistant and easy to heat treat. Products such as: chemical processing equipment, nuclear power generators, and refrigerant storage tanks.
(12) Model 321: Except for the addition of titanium, which reduces the risk of material weld corrosion, other properties are similar to 304. It is suitable for welding brewing equipment, steam pipes, and aviation parts.
(13) Model 347: Added stabilizing element niobium, suitable for welding aircraft parts and chemical equipment.
The above are the common models of austenitic stainless steel. If as a consumer you still don`t know how to distinguish these models of stainless steel, then look for the sus304 stainless steel model. The products we sell on the market and the products we produce are all It is made of 304 food grade stainless steel raw material. I recently discovered through some online product selection and development and unannounced visits to peers that many online sink products have very favorable prices. They will also mark "304 stainless steel" on the product page, but after I communicate with them, they will repeatedly emphasize that they Products cannot be tested with testing potions for various reasons. Therefore, I would like to remind everyone with the production department of our factory not to choose the so-called 304 Stainless Steel Sink just for the sake of immediate profit. Even if you buy it, you must use potion to test it, because if it is really the raw material of 304 stainless steel, the potion will not Will cause any harm to the sink you purchased.
That`s all for today. We are a manufacturer with 15 years of experience in the production and design of handmade sinks. Your consultation is welcome.

(The customer service said that the material is austenitic 304 stainless steel, but it cannot be tested with chemicals. This is a very common lie.)
